About

Firstly, welcome. I’m Haley. Pleased to make your acquaintance.

By now, I’m certain you have seen my version of the quote from Lewis Carroll’s poem “The Walrus and the Carpenter.” After all, it is the basis of my blog’s title and its source of inspiration. You may be rather confused; after all, it’s a bit of an odd choice. Here is what I mean by it:

I chose this quote because, first and foremost, this is my opportunity to communicate with– and learn from– you. You, reader, and others like you. People, mostly strangers, who are willing to share in my journey, my triumphs and frustrations, my success, failure, and everything in between. The time has, indeed, come to talk of many things.

Of soups and dips and victuals–

However, unlike the Walrus, my focus is not on shoes, nor ships, nor sealing-wax, nor cabbages, nor kings. Rather, I intend to discuss food. Food and literature are two of my greatest joys (hence the Alice in Wonderland quote). I try to cook– and eat– as healthfully as I can; the recipes I share with you will be typically healthy, always vegetarian, and invariably delicious.

Oh, tea, how I adore thee. Herbal tea. Peppermint. Daily. In my beloved handmade blue mug. Pure bliss.

and apron-strings.”

And lastly, apron-strings. They keep everything in place. Tied neatly in a bow, they offer stability and security. Well… that’s a stretch, so I think I’ll end here.

Welcome, enjoy, and feel free to comment!
